About Rabbits’ Rebellion

Born out of Seattle's rich and storied Irish session scene, Rabbit's Rebellion are a spirited ensemble deeply rooted in the vibrant tradition of Irish music. This talented group brings the energy and passion of Irish traditional tunes to the shores of Puget Sound.

The name Rabbits Rebellion is an homage to the Easter Rebellion. A skirmish during the Irish Revolutionary Period that inspired the song Foggy Dew.

It also references the significance of animals in ancient Celtic mythology. The hare is an omen of prosperity and good fortune. A symbol of springtime and new beginnings and are known for their wily behavior and antics. In many Celtic myths and legends, rabbits are said to be shapeshifters. They would often turn into humans to play tricks on unsuspecting people.

Rae (they/them) plays the fiddle in Rabbits’ Rebellion, though they have dreams of playing some killer chord progressions on the bouzouki…eventually. Originally introduced to the ITM tradition by way of a library CD in their high school years, it took going to the local pub session on the regular to transition from 25 years of classical violin. Rae has been finding the local trad music scene a remarkable change-of-pace and has been obsessively learning tunes and the “lilt.”

Sean fell in love with the Irish Trad community when he returned to his hometown of Durango Colorado after several years away.  He attended  countless Irish sessions as an observer, amazed by the sense of community and love of the music.  One fine day, one of the musicians handed him a bodhran and told him to learn it and encouraged him to play in the session. Sean knew he'd found his calling. With that, he’s been playing since 2017, and has had the privilege of participating in sessions coast to coast during. Sean's dream to start a band came to life with Rabbits' Rebellion in 2023, and he can’t wait to see where the adventure goes from here.

Robb is known for his dynamic rhythm on guitar and bodhrán and has been a vibrant part of Montana's Irish music scene. Now, in Seattle, he's excited for more opportunities to play, teach, and celebrate Irish music and culture. A self-taught guitarist with roots in piano, he blends traditional style with contemporary energy, influenced by the Dubliners and Scythian. Robb's love for Irish trad music shines in his performances at festivals and teaching guitar. Memorable for his collaboration with Irish dancers, his music transcends the stage, embodying the joy and camaraderie of Irish sessions worldwide.
